We head to nearby sublimely beautiful Huddart County Park to run it's well maintained trails into Phleger Estate's single track. With the recent rains, the Redwood forest is in prime shape and the streams are flowing and clear! Routes of 7 or 10 miles with plenty of elevation gain. Breakfast at Buck's follows the run. This is an all-weather venue, well-sheltered and with trails that are largely resistant to mud.
When Saturday, February 13, 2016. Meet at 8:20am for an 8:30am start. Arrive at the park gate no later than 8:15am, to allow time to pay the parking fee of $6 (if the ranger is not at the station, then exact change or a check made out to San Mateo County will be needed).
Where Huddart County Park, Zwierlein Picnic Area.
How to get there Follow this Google Maps route, or set your GPS to lat=37.441593, lon=-122.290792. Should anyone wish to car pool (to share the admission fee) then I suggest meeting behind the Woodside Town Center where there is usually ample and always free parking with no time limit. You can find that parking lot here: https://goo.gl/maps/hlQ4B
What A 10 mile long route and a 7 mile medium route. Printed trail maps (like the one below) will be available at the start of the run. This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle. To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask that you join with other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group.
After the run, let's head back to Woodside for breakfast at Buck's (an iconic Silicon Valley experience in itself). Buck's is a 10 minute drive from the trailhead at 3062 Woodside Rd., Woodside.
RSVPs are encouraged but not required for PARC events. To RSVP & connect with other runners, you can find this event on FB & Meetup at:
Typically about 15 runners join in our trail runs.
