This Saturday (2/11/17) we scout the West half of Sierra Azul Open Space. It's 12 mile wide stretch of remote wilderness with no public roads or (I think) homes. Wow!
Join us for 6 or 9 mile loops. Or add on as much as you like (a 13 mile route is mapped).
I'll be hiking the 6. Other walkers welcome to join in that!

PARCaroos, indeed Fleet Feet welcomes PARC to their event in Foothills Park this Sunday and has invited us to use this as September's Monthly Trail Run. Great idea as this looks to be a really great local event. Thanks to Peter Baum for putting this in play.
An event teaser ---> coach led runs of 12, 8, or 4 miles. And the after party, wow! Bagels, burgers, bananas,…

While standing over the printer as it printed the maps for tomorrow's run, I noticed the text towards the upper right "San Andreas Rift". Indeed one of the delights of this route is running several miles (more for the medium run) right along one of the Earth's most massive features, the 1,300km long San Andreas Fault. The forecast could hardly be more ideal with temps in the 50s and clear. See you there, 8:15am tomorrow.

This Sunday we finish out the year on the high spine of the Peninsula for this run up to the top of Black Mountain where 360-degree panoramic views stretch from the Bay out to the Pacific. The run then returns via the beautiful (and shady) Stevens Creek Nature Trail. Then a mile or so into the Los Trancos OSP to wonder at a stretch of the San Andreas fault.
