MAY 2016 TRAIL RUN --- Montebello & Skyline OSPs --- R&W Vineyards Gathering

Saturday, May 7, 2016 Continuing our string of 'special' trail runs, this month we meet at R&W Vineyards, high above Cupertino and shuttle from there to the rarely used no-parking allowed trailhead at the 'end' of Montebello Rd.

Miles of well maintained open ridge top trails in Montebello & Skyline OSPs reward with constantly changing expansive vistas. Returning to the trailhead, we shuttle back to PARC members Bill & Noel's R&W Vineyards for a post-run gathering. Even if not running, consider joining us before the event to help shuttle runners to the trailhead. You can then stay at the Vineyards for coffee (etc) and enjoy the astounding view of Silicon Valley. Also, whether running or not, PARC members and guests are welcome to join for the very special post run gathering (about 11am).

Meet at 8:20am for an 8:30am start for routes of either 8.3 or 12.6 miles.

Carpooling is encouraged: carpools depart at 7:50am from the MV Costco parking lot from the Costco parking lot on Rengstorff Avenue in Mountain View near 101. Pls arrive by 7:40am so that we can organize the rides. We meet in the area of the parking lot that is close to the McDonalds.

Where  R&W Vineyards, 15060 Montebello Road, Cupertino, GPS coords: 37º 17’ 23” N, 122º 6’ 1” W. However, you will want to follow these directions to R&W Vineyards:

Go 2.0 miles up Montebello Road.  You will see a school on your right and immediately past that there are 2 driveways on your left.  Take the 2nd of these 2 driveways. The address (15060) is one of several listed at the base of the driveway.  Then continue up the 0.8 miles mostly unpaved drive with a left towards the end.

Notes: These are remote trail runs and so each runner is encouraged to carry at least one water bottle. No water is available on the routes.

We encourage runners of approximately the same ability and ambition to form groups and be accountable for group members.

There will be a very nice gathering after the run, you are welcome to bring something to share, but not necessary as R&W Winery and PARC are providing some goodies.
