Continuing an excellent tradition, club member
Joe Walter has generously offered to host a special trail run
starting and ending at his house for our June trail run. The run is
down and up the trails of Fremont Older Open Space Preserve - yep,
we start at the top.... And when we get back to the top, at Joe's
house, we will have the best runner's potluck ever, enjoying
terrific views, the pool, and tales of the trail.
When Sunday, June
5th, 2011. Carpools leave at 8:00am for an 8:30am start at
Joe's.
Where Stevens Creek County
Park / Fremont Older Open Space Preserve, Cupertino, More info on
Fremont Older OSP can be found
here.
How Parking at Joe's house
is limited. Therefore we strongly encourage carpooling. The carpool
will leave at 8:00am from the south side of Kennedy Middle School
in Cupertino. Parking should be available along
Hyannisport Drive.
Pls RSVP back to me by Thursday, June
2nd and I will then send out directions to Joe's house on
Friday, June 3rd.
What A long run (about 9.0
miles, 1000 feet of climbing) and an intermediate run (about 6.1
miles, 600 feet of climbing).
This is a remote trail run and each runner must
carry at least one water bottle.
To avoid having to search for lost runners we
ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same
running ability to form a group. The runners in each group must be
able to account for their partners to make sure nobody is
lost.
The potluck at this event is more upscale than
at other PARC Monthly Trail Runs. No need to get overly concerned
about this as anything you bring will be appreciated. But wanted
you to know and to bring an appetite!
Why After the run we will
have the convenience of Joe's house & pool for the potluck.
Bring your swimsuit.
No shoes are allowed in the house! Please bring some clean socks,
bare feet are also fine.
Close to Palo Alto. Multiple vista points with
expansive views of Santa Clara Valley and Stevens Creek
Reservoir.
This course is hilly, but less so than some of
our other trail runs.
