FEBRUARY 2014 MONTHLY TRAIL RUN

Arastradero & Foothills Parks

Sunday, February 16, 2014 Starting in Palo Alto's Arastradero Park, we run up and into Foothills Park through the 'secret' gate. Hilly for sure, but not extreme, with fabulous single track for about half of the route, this is the classic Palo Alto trail run. The Foothill Park section of the route offers Peninsula and Bay views as well as a sense of the wild.  The long route runs 3 miles along the beautiful, and now flowing(!), Los Trancos Creek. Mapped routes of 7.3 & 13.6 miles.

Meet at 8:20am for an 8:30am start.

Where   Palo Alto's Pearson-Arastradero Preserve. And then running into Palo Alto's Foothills Park. There is no parking fee. Dogs not allowed in Foothills Park on weekends.
How   to get there The trail head is only a 15 minute drive from downtown Palo Alto. Take Page Mill Rd West. About a half mile after passing under Hwy 280, turn right on Arastradero Rd. The parking lot is on the right about a half mile up Arastradero Rd.
Driving caution these roads are very popular with cyclists on weekend mornings. Please watch out for the cyclists.
No Carpool since this run is only minutes from Palo Alto, we are not arranging for carpools this month.
What   A long (about 13.6 miles, 2000 feet vertical) and an intermediate run (about 7.3 miles, 1,000 feet vertical).

These are remote trail runs and so each runner is encouraged to carry at least one water bottle.

To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask that runners of approximately the same ability and ambition form groups and be accountable for group members.

There will be a runners' potluck after the run, so please bring a healthy drink or snack to share.
