August Trail Run --- ARASTRADERO & FOOTHILLS PARKS

Sunday, August 14, 2016 Running through Palo Alto's Arastradero Park and into Foothills Park through the 'secret' gate, this is the classic Palo Alto trail run. Hilly for sure, but not extreme, this route covers miles of fabulous single track. The Foothill Park section of the route offers Peninsula and Bay views as well as a sense of the wild.  The longer route runs 3 miles along the beautiful Los Trancos Creek. Mapped routes of 7.3 & 13.6 miles.

Meet at 8:00am for an 8:20am start. A bit of an earlier start as the parking lot fills up and is so close to home (so really minimal driving time).

Where   Palo Alto's Pearson-Arastradero Preserve. And then running into Palo Alto's Foothills Park. There is no parking fee. No dogs allowed in Foothills Park on weekends.
How   to get there The trail head is only a 15 minute drive from downtown Palo Alto. Take Page Mill Rd West. About a half mile after passing under Hwy 280, turn right on Arastradero Rd. The parking lot is on the right about a half mile up Arastradero Rd. If the parking lot is full, then park along the street in front of the houses back down towards Page Mill Road.
Driving caution these roads are very popular with cyclists on weekend mornings. Please watch out for the cyclists.
No Carpool since this run is only minutes from Palo Alto, we are not arranging for carpools this month.
What   A long (about 13.6 miles, 2000 feet vertical) and an intermediate run (about 7.3 miles, 1,000 feet vertical).

These are remote trail runs and so each runner is encouraged to carry at least one water bottle.

To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask that runners of approximately the same ability and ambition form groups and be accountable for group members.

There will be a runners' potluck after the run, so please bring a healthy drink or snack to share.
