Running the verdant and well maintained trails on the East Slope of the Santa Cruz Mtns above Saratoga, PARC's June Monthly Trail Run explores Sanborn County Park. Sanborn is a relatively unknown gem of a park only a half hour drive from PA. We last ran these trails in 2007 and a return visit will find abundant wild flowers and flowing streams.

When Sunday, June 6, 2010. Meet at 8:15am for an 8:30am start.

Carpools leave at 7:45am from the Costco parking lot on Rengstorff Avenue in Mountain View near 101, near the McDonalds.

Where Sanborn County Park, 16055 Sanborn Road, Saratoga, CA 95070. There is a $6 parking fee per vehicle. In the past credit cards were accepted at the park. More park info can be found here.

How to get there Take 101 or 280 to 85 south. Follow 85 south and exit at Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Follow Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road south to Saratoga, turn right on Highway 9 toward Saratoga Gap. After approximately 2 miles turn left onto Sanborn Road (just before a bridge). Follow road to park entrance. PARC meets in the small parking lot next to the park entrance. Google estimates 24 minutes driving time from the car pool location.

What A long (about 11.4 miles, 1400 feet elevation gain) and an intermediate run (about 6.1 miles).

This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle. To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group. The runners in each group must be able to account for their partners to make sure nobody is lost. As usual, there will be a potluck after the run, so please bring food or drink to share.

Why Trails protected from the sun by dense forest canopy. Wild flowers will abound. Opportunity to visit Summit Rock on the long run. Note we will also visit Indian Rock if possible, but the park phone message says that this feature is currently closed.
