In May we return to a popular venue close to Palo Alto. Soft trails through heavy forests provide an opportunity for enjoyable running year round.
When Sunday, May 3, 2009. Meet at 8:15am for an 8:30am start.
Huddart Park is close to Palo Alto. But those that want to carpool to conserve resources and save on parking fees ($5 per car at Huddart Park) can meet at the Park & Ride lot at Page Mill Road and Arastradero leaving at 8:00am.
Take 280 north to Woodside Road (84). Exit and turn left (west) on Woodside Road and follow it for about 1.5 miles through the town of Woodside. Turn right on King's Mountain Road and go about 3 miles to the Huddart Park entrance. Pay $5 parking fee and drive to the Zwierlein parking lot. Google estimates the driving time from Lucy Stern Center to be 25 minutes.
What An intermediate run (6.3 miles) and a long run (9.9 miles) within Huddart Park, and a longer run (12.1 miles) spanning both Huddart Park and neighboring Plegher Estate. These are remote trail runs and so each runner is encouraged to carry at least one water bottle. Potable water is available at the start only. To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask that runners of approximately the same ability and ambition form groups and be accountable for group members. There will be a potluck after the run, so please bring a healthy drink or snack to share.
