For our June trail run, club member Joe Walter has again generously invited us to have a special trail run starting and ending at his house which is on the trail in the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve. NOTE: you have to sign-up to for for this run because a headcount is needed in advance and I do not want to put the address on the web page. Please see the "How" section. Please also remember to bring a potluck contribution and read the "Why" section.
When Saturday, June 6th, 2009. Meet at 8:15am for an 8:30am start.
Where Stevens Creek County Park / Fremont Older Open Space Preserve, Cupertino, More info on Fremont Older OSP can be found here.
How Parking at Joe's house is limited. Therefore we encourage those who want to participate to carpool. The carpool will leave at 8:00am from Kennedy Middle School, 821 Bubb Rd, Cupertion, CA. Parking should be available along Hyannisport Drive. Since interest so far has been low, we do not require carpooling. However please RSVP to by Wednesday June 3. Once we have an overview about attendance, we will send out directions to participants.
What A long run (about 9.0 miles, 1000 feet of climbing) and a short run (about 6.1 miles, 600 feet of climbing).
This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle.
To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group. The runners in each group must be able to account for their partners to make sure nobody is lost.
We will have a potluck after the run. So please bring some food or drink to share.
Why After the run we will have the convenience of Joe's house for the potluck including the possibility to swim in the pool. Bring your swimsuit, if you want to do so. One important note: No shoes are allowed in the house! Please bring some clean socks or be prepared to walk on bare feet.
We will run in a park close to Palo Alto. Enjoy multiple vista points with views of Santa Clara Valley and Stevens Creek Reservoir.
Note: This course is hilly but less so than some of our other trail runs.
