The June trail run will take us to a popular park close to Palo Alto. Running in dense forests that shield us from the heat and on soft trails with moderate inclines provide an opportunity for enjoyable running. The direction of the long run has been reversed (compared to 2006) to allow for a more enjoyable downhill section on the smoother Dean Trail.
The park was the site of extensive logging operations during the time of the California gold rush providing the lumber to build San Francisco. There were 15 sawmills within 5 miles of the nearby Woodside Store. One of them was Richard's sawmill after which today's Richard's Road trail is named. New trees in the park have grown for about 100 years.

What A short (6.7 miles) and a long (9.9 miles) run. This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle. To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group. The runners in each group must be able to account for their partners to make sure nobody is lost. As usual, there will be a potluck after the run, so please bring food or drink to share.
Run descriptions refer to the Huddart Park
Huddart Park map. There seems to be no usable online map for Phleger Estate. Note that the long and short runs do not have a section in common in the beginning. You have decide right away, which one you want to run.
