February Trail Run
San Bruno Mountain State and County Park
Saturday, February 3, 2007
We've all driven around this impressive mountain on our way to and from San Francisco. Join us on Saturday morning as we run the mountain's scenic trails and enjoy spectacular views of the Bay, the Pacific, The Peninsula, The City, and beyond.
When   Saturday February 3, 2007. Meet at 8:15am for an 8:30am start.
Those who want to carpool meet at the Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield (between Melville and Embarcadero), Palo Alto. This month, the carpool leaves at 7:45am.
Where   San Bruno Mountain State and County Park, 3555 Guadalupe Canyon Parkway, Brisbane, CA 94005. Bring $5 per vehicle for park entrance fee. More park info.
Take 101 North to Brisbane (about 22 miles from Palo Alto). Exit at Bayshore Blvd toward Brisbane/Cow Palace. Go 2 miles and turn left on Guadalupe Canyon Pkwy. The park entrance is about half a mile on the right. After paying the entrance fee, drive to the right, under the highway and to the Summit Loop trail head parking lot.
What   A long (about 11.8 miles, 1,200 feet vertical) and a short run (about 7.0 miles, 900 feet vertical).
This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle. To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group. The runners in each group must be able to account for their partners to make sure nobody is lost.
As usual, there will be a potluck after the run, so please bring food or drink to share.
Why   If the weather holds, we'll have spectacular views of the Bay Area from multiple vantage points during the run.

Trail Directions
These directions use the trail names and distances from the online San Bruno Mountain County Parks map. However, this online map isn't clear or complete. So I'll ask everyone to pick up a printed map from the trail head kiosk (which is both clear and complete) and I'll have printed trail directions to hand out.
