August Trail Run
Stevens Creek County Park/Fremont Older OSP
Sunday, August 5, 2007
Note: Special PARC Trail Run
For our August trail run, club member Joe Walter has generously invited us to have a special trail run starting and ending at his house which is on the trail in the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve.
When   Sunday, August 5th, 2007. Meet at 8:15am for an 8:30am start.
Where   Stevens Creek County Park / Fremont Older Open Space Preserve, Cupertino, More info on Fremont Older OSP can be found here.
How   Parking at Joe's house is very limited. Therefore we require those who want to participate to RSVP to . We will try to group runners together for carpooling. If you already know with whom you are carpooling please let us know. Once we have an overview about attendance, I will send out directions to participants.
What   A long run (about 9.4 miles, 1000 feet of climbing) and a short run (about 5.4 miles, 600 feet of climbing).
This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle.
To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group. The runners in each group must be able to account for their partners to make sure nobody is lost.
We will have a potluck after the run. So please bring some food or drink to share.
Why   After the run we will have the convenience of Joe's house for the potluck including the possibility to swim in the pool. Bring your swimsuit, if you want to do so.
We will run in a park close to Palo Alto. Enjoy multiple vista points with views of Santa Clara Valley and Stevens Creek Reservoir.
Note: This course is hilly but less so than some of our other trail runs. Also, the distances are a bit shorter than our usual runs leaving time to socialize at Dr. Joe's after the run. The combination of a bit less climbing and distance makes this a good run for beginning trail runners.
