I hope you will join me at this event which I am organizing on behalf of the City of Palo Alto. We're teaming up with community partners for the 5th annual Great Race for Saving Water and Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 14 at the Palo Alto Baylands. The day starts off at 9 am with a family-friendly 5k race to raise awareness about water resources and conservation. New this year - a kids 1K fun run to chase the "running toilet!"
The fun continues through 1 pm with an Earth Day festival offering free activities sure to please everyone! Team awards, live music, food trucks, electric vehicle (EV) ride & drive, bird walk, guided bike ride, zoo animals, arts & crafts, raffle prizes, Smokey the Bear, community booths with activities, environmental and public safety resources.
Registration discounts are provided for teams of 15 or more runners/walkers. It would be great to get a PARC team out there with friends and family! This is also a great opportunity for youth to earn community service hours, as we are seeking volunteers to help with water stations, course monitoring/cheering, gear check, t-shirts, event set up and clean up.Check out the event schedule, activity maps and registration at https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/gov/depts/utl/residents/sustainableh...
Extra raffle tickets will be given out for biking to the event and/or bringing in old athletic shoes for us to recycle them. Plus, trick out your bike and take a guided tour with us through the Baylands!
