Hans Bernhardt commented on Ron Wolf's event Scout a route - February 2017 Trail Run - Lexington & Sierra Azul
"Ron YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL MAN!  ;-)  I have been scoping this route for some time to do alone. But realized wisdom should prevail and I should minimally notify next of kin, let along have someone to pick me up at one end or the other.  …"

Scout a route - February 2017 Trail Run - Lexington & Sierra Azul at Lexington Reservoir County Park Miller Point Parking Lot

February 11, 2017 from 8:15am to 11am
I have this somewhat ambitious idea for an epic route       https://www.plotaroute.com/map/346793 climbing up(!) from Lexington Dam onto the dramatic trails of the Sierra Azul OSP and all the way across the substantial ridge to Almaden Quicksilver County Park, 12 miles out. After that, most will want to shuttle back to the cars at Lexington. However, for those up for it, the really epic adventure would be to run BACK TO LEXINGTON! 24 miles…See More

PARC MONTHLY TRAIL RUN - WUNDERLICH & BUCKS at Wunderlich County Park

January 22, 2017 from 7:45am to 11am
With the wet weather (& the forecast for more this weekend), let's start PARC's 2017 trail runs at Wunderlich Park in Woodside as these trails hold up quite well in the wet and are sheltered by the ridge and forest. Even in the wet, you'll be impressed by the groves of majestically beautiful Redwoods that compliment Wunderlich's comprehensive & well-maintained trail system. As well, Wunderlich is only 15 minutes driving from Palo AltoInstead of our usual runners' pot luck, after the run…See More

We are on for this weekend's run at Stevens Creek County Park where we join The Striders on their weekly routes. Trails there are hilly but rolling rather than endless climbs. Forecast is for cool & clear. However, many of those trail are sloppy when wet, & they will be wet, so wear your most grippy shoes. Next Saturday with brunch at Hobbies to follow. The Striders run these trails every Saturday morning and are looking forward to us joining them. Incoming Storm - Will be clearing by Sunday Morning

The weather here is so interesting, how these storms organize and spin inland off the Pacific. Anyway, looks like this one hits us in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Forecast is for clearing by Sunday morning with less than 50% chance of showers…

AUGUST TRAIL RUN --- ARASTRADERO & FOOTHILLS PARKS at Aratrasdero Park, Palo Alto, CA

August 14, 2016 from 8am to 11am
Running through Palo Alto's Arastradero Park and into Foothills Park through the 'secret' gate, this is the classic Palo Alto trail run. Hilly for sure, but not extreme, this route covers miles of fabulous single track. The Foothill Park section of the route offers Peninsula and Bay views as well as a sense of the wild. The longer route runs 3 miles along the beautiful Los Trancos Creek. Mapped routes of 7.3 & 13.6 miles.Meet at 8:00am for an 8:20am start. A bit of an earlier start as the…See More

Trail Run Sunday - Windy Hill

Join us for PARC's next Monthly Trail run on Sunday July 10th, when we run (or walk) Windy Hill's shaded switch-backed and runnable trails summiting at one of the most inspiring vistas in the Bay area with surreal grass covered hills dropping away at your feet towards the Bay, and views of the Pacific, Mt. Diablo, Mt. Tam, and the San Andreas Fault all right there on a clear day. This run is close to Palo Alto, so no surprise that Windy Hill is PARC's favorite Monthly Trail Run route.  Meet us…See More

Saturday (2/11), Route Scouting - Lexington Reservoir

This Saturday (2/11/17) we scout the West half of Sierra Azul Open Space. It's 12 mile wide stretch of remote wilderness with no public roads or (I think) homes. Wow!

Join us for 6 or 9 mile loops. Or add on as much as you like (a 13 mile route is mapped).

I'll be hiking the 6. Other walkers welcome to join in that!
